I want to transfer my pdfs to the Books app. This is where things really start to go loco. I upload my files, re-install Dropbox on the iPad, sign in, and in a second all my files are on the iPad.

So next I decide to try Dropbox, which I haven't used for a while. When I finally open a pdf in Google Drive, it turns out that the Google Docs interface is so chunky that I just can't use it. So I have to go through the hassle of signing in. The links open in Safari, where Google isn't signed in since I don't use it often. So I do it, but because the files are apparently a bit too big, they get sent as Google Drive links. So next I try emailing my pdfs to myself, because that's my next instinct to transfer files.

Maybe my cord is botched or my software is slightly out of date in any case, I gotta try something new.

I know I can't do this with file explorer like I would with a USB stick or hard drive, but I figured I'd see if I could still do it with iTunes.īut when I plug in my iPad into my PC, even though the iPad and iTunes and my PC recognize each other, somehow the verification doesn't complete and iTunes can't transfer anything to the iPad. I don't transfer files on my iPad very often (every few years), and my instinct is to just plug it into the PC and copy the files over when I'm transferring files. To do so, I needed to upload my pdfs onto my iPad again because no other app will read the files on Google Play. But today I realized that Google Play had turned my 7 MB pdfs into 1.3 GB monsters. Until very recently, I was using Google Play Books to read the pdfs, because I like its simple interface. I have a 2018 iPad, which is still running perfectly. This method really works well for me, and makes good use of the iPad's advantages. Related subredditsįor the past few months, I've been doing a project on my iPad where I read pdfs while taking notes on Pages, multitasking with the pdf occupying 70% of the screen and Pages 30%.
